From: Gali (Original Message)Sent: 7/26/2002 2:01 PM Hi guys,
Since everyone seems to be unleashing pompous introductions, I will be different and try to make mine as short and simple as possible:)
I am Alan Galiwango. I was in Budo from 1995 till 2000. I held various posts like Headprefect and played various sports like basketball while there. I have been missing in action from BI and it feels like I'm a new member all over again.
I was lucky to go to Uganda this summer for about a month(May-June) and boy was it wonderful to be back home. While there I attended the Sports day at Budo and boy, was it pathetic. I mean, despite the fact that England house came on top(as usual), there was a severe lack of enthusiasm among the students for the whole thing. There were hardly any celebrations when the winner was announced. You remember how the whole school from the winners to the losers would go buckwild when the results were announced that day..well..it did not happen this time. Maybe it was the lack of advertising for the event that caused the poor turn-up for the event. I would have missed the big-day myself had I not visited the hill a weekend before, I mean, it was not announced on the radio at all. Therefore there was a very poor turn up of Old Budonians for the whole event. Budo is changing my friends. With a new headmaster in place, things are not the way they used to be. There are new rules in
place.
- The last supper, u remember that meal when candidates would dress all skimpy (esp if they were gals) and smart. Well, it is now supposed to be in uniform.
-The gals are going to start wearing socks..yes..I mean socks for gals. I feel sorry for the students on a hot day, they now have to deal with mugere from both guys and gals..hehe
-Girls are being suspended like no-man's business. I hear as long as Mukyala Nkambwe sells you, you go home. The teachers' word is now final, unlike the days of Bus when students would have a say too.
-Budo has now aquired a school band...interesting
-Sports and games>> rugby is going down the drain. Budo is no longer the power to reckon with what with the loss of potential stars like Kibombo Harrison.
>>The basketball team is still young and needs to learn to play together. We had a game with them(OBs) and despite our serious lack of form/fitness...we beat them.
-And noooo the library is not near complete guys..I wonder if it ever will get completed
-Gaster house was renovated....I hear new windows....I personally think they need to knock it down totally and build a real dorm for the poor gals.
-Reverend Bombo is still alive..and yeah..still crazy...he almost chased us(OBs) around too while he was whipping students.. This is just the tip of the iceberg as concerns of what is going on at the hill. Physically the place looks marvellous esp. infront of the chapel. There is grass everywhere and the old bus park is history. I did not hear any complaints from students about the meals..I hear having posho twice a week is just a myth. The Mess standards have drastically improved.
There a lot more about Budo that I would love to talk about..but I will stop here cos I dont wanna write a novel.
I missed BI while in Uganda...not that there was no internet..but I was officially on holiday and did not want to get into any internet addictions like this.
Hope to hear from you all.
PS. By the way, I met Mr. Busulwa in town (Kla) one day and we talked for hours. He is fine and sends his greeting to y'all. I will save his kelens for another time.

From: BALASent: 7/27/2002 4:43 AM Welcome back Gali...
It is just so refreshing to get a first hand report about the Hill. So England came out on top! That's great. So... Budo has changed!

Nice to hear that ur back. Hope u had fun in UG.
Man I feel sorry forthe gals wearing socks allover the place...something tells me that was a classic Mirembe idea.
...oh and now school uniform on last super...geeez.
they are about to make them wear uniform for entertainment.
Yo joking, socks, my God!! that sounds like some new school out there;; I hope that crazy suggestion is not editted to stockings, coz that will be indeed very vulgar..
now the uniform thing for last supper, sounds "ultimate lack of ideas" and the suspension pandemic is kinda heartless, i so think.. the library stays in my prayers...
though the new band sounds cool though,,
anyhow, now u Andre' what do u mean???? R alright??
in Discussion From: BugoSent: 7/29/2002 9:28 PM Hi Gali, welcome back from home.Good that u had fun at home how i envy you!!!It was so nice of you to tell us what was going on at the hill.Man i guess my year enjoyed the last of everything except we did not escape the ties in Ms. Kayaye's class.!!!! I can't even imagine those babe's in black socks the whole day.I can bet you that was Waibi and Mirembe's idea!!Those chicks!!!!
Congs though to England house!Am almost sure Grace came second in the girls league!!!
Till next time.Peace out!!!

From: aieeSent: 8/12/2002 2:53 PM yes budo has changed....for me the most interesting of all changes was the new aussie showers.yes u can laugh all u want, rumour has it that they r warm water showers, however them young aussies have still failed to realise that showers actually exist behind the old workshop.
i agree with gali sports day was a no show!!!! but being there after three yrs i recalled the front of chapel was never a forest of flowers!!! now however it is!! i think there was 2 many flowers! that is all i saw as i went up the hill on business due to the still hardy Mrs Ssonga. we had a burial and the kids from buddo returned a few hours late to the school...the babe had the nerve to send them back home, we had to go up and beg!! wasn't funny and not the kind of return to my old hunting ground i had hoped for.I thank God i was nobody.she didn't recognise me!!
this was my second time back home in 3yrs but i was still struck by the change in society...sebuwufu reads news, all the ninjas u c on telly r either ogs or obs, kellens we used to slap in h'se r now gossip "column stuff" i mean those kings and queens are the Bomb!! was impressed! respect!

From: PoteSent: 8/13/2002 9:05 AM Hi people.
I am still in Uganda, where I will live FOREVER.
I think Gali's 'short message' was very interesting. I know I enjoyed it.
The only thing that surprises me is the fact that all you guys are waiting for Bombo to die!
I cannot believe that.
In one sentence Gali wrote, "Reverend Bombo is still alive" .
Do not worry though, I am not alarming anyone.
I hope u pals are all still alive......... aiee, Bala, Solo, EMILY, ETC.
Just keep writing.
By the way, aiee, you were not a nobody. It was just hard to see you in the night. Otherwise during the day you really made a great impact on the light intensity in any area. Thank you very much for your great qualities.
I'm out.
Pote.
