Kony

From: Solo (Original Message) Sent: 7/29/2002 3:43 PM
Baguy..

this guy has now over done it.
He kills 48pple in the north children and old pple..in some cases making the parents smash the heads of the kids to death.
A few questions for this man.

How can such action show that he is the man to lead Uganda?
Is he trying to topple the government or just to terrorize pple...his own pple?
Is he insane?
Does he deserve peace talks really?

The only rational reason I see to arrange peace talks with Kony is to capture him sort of by surprise.... a colonial tactic that the British used to subjugate resilient Afriacan societies.
It would take a lot of humility for a legitimate government to hold peace talks with a guy like Kony... but if it is in the best interest of the people, it's worth the try.

I think Kony does all that to attract international let alone national attention.... Let's not even imagine Kony leading Uganda. This would be a natural disaster.

HI Bala

You mentioned that Kony does such things to attract international and national attention. I think he is definitely getting such attention. But, is this attention to his benefit, considering how he is getting it?
If he is trying to gather some sort of foreign support, he is doing it the wrong way.
I wonder if he realizes this. The whole world has stepped up its fight against terrorism.

Looking at things from Kony's perspective: Whether or not Kony's cause makes sense, he has to fight to the death. This is his lifeline. As long as he sticks to his guns, he will earn a "decent" living and be feared by many of his unfortunate victims.
I am sure all countries have international enemies... and Uganda is no exception. The attention Kony gets from Uganda's enemies I would reason is beneficial to him.

yeah yes , i think this guy should be talked to; honestly it is only sensible that we do not rule out all possible avenues of tackling this northern crisis.. if plans A, B & C failed, why not try another plan for the sake of those perishing....................

Meanwhile, Solo, i am inspired by that piece "museveni slams aid.....". With such ideas, i dream we can hope for African solidarity to such adorable levels, though Gadaffi's latest stunt scares the "role model position" i had for him.
By the way, am waiting to see what this Saddam Guy has to offer, bearing in mind that I cant help being less optimistic after Alqaeda alone proved such a hurlde for the "super-power" let us wait and see...though "when two elephants fight, it is the ground that suffers

KONY!! Well, it is the problem of the Govt. 4 not giving him enough attention!!
Guys, look @ the att. that was given to ADF, plus those funny rebels that were in Mukono sometime back.
If only the govt. had worked on him first time, he would be no problem.
He is getting used to it; I mean: I capture a few teenage girls, burn down villages and ambush a Red Cross Convoy and guess what?-M7 is easy!!!
So, I suggest that as much att. is given to him.Do what was done to ADF-Go to Sudan( if that is what it is to take), though this time there will be no gems!!
Talking to him-it was tried by Bigombe and Co. The guy never listened!
That's it Folks!

Kony might have been undermined earlier on, however, "THAT WAS THEN, THIS IS NOW". I am of the view that we are dwelling too much on PAST events. Whatever hapened in the past happened, fortunately or unfortunately. At present, Kony is slaughtering Ugandans and threatens to distabilize or divide the entire country.
